Introduction
Scanaro is a fully offline document scanner for Android. It lets you capture documents with your camera, recognise text using on-device OCR, and save everything as searchable PDFs, entirely on your phone, with no internet connection required.
Our core promise, in plain English: everything you scan stays on your device. We don't collect it, we don't see it, and we have no way to access it, because it never leaves your phone.
Information We Collect
We collect nothing.
Scanaro does not collect, store on any server, transmit, or share any personal information, usage data, analytics, crash reports, or any other data of any kind. The app has no servers, no backend, and makes no network requests whatsoever.
Camera Permission
Scanaro requests access to your device camera for one purpose only: to let you photograph documents you choose to scan. The camera is activated only when you explicitly initiate a scan, never in the background, never automatically.
All image processing, edge detection, perspective correction, and text recognition, happens entirely on your device. No image is ever uploaded, transmitted, or stored anywhere outside your phone.
Your Documents & Data
Scanned images, generated PDFs, and extracted text are stored only in the app's private storage on your device. You are in full control:
- You can view, export, or delete your documents at any time from within the app.
- Deleting a document in the app permanently removes it from your device.
- Uninstalling Scanaro removes all app data, including every document you have scanned.
No copy of your documents exists anywhere other than your own device.
No Data Sharing or Third Parties
We share nothing with anyone, because we have nothing to share. Scanaro contains no advertising SDKs, no analytics libraries, no crash-reporting tools, and no third-party data services of any kind. Your data is yours, entirely.
Network & Internet
Scanaro works entirely offline and does not require an internet connection. The app makes no network requests. Your device's internet connection is never used by Scanaro.
Data Security
Because your data never leaves your device, its security is as strong as your device's own security. Scanned documents live in app-private storage, which is not accessible to other apps on your device. We recommend keeping your device protected with a screen lock, as you would for any sensitive content you store locally.
Children's Privacy
Scanaro is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). Because we collect no data from anyone at all, we collect no data from children either.
Your Rights
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete on our end. You already have direct and complete control over all of your data through your device.
If you are in a jurisdiction covered by the GDPR, CCPA, or similar privacy regulations, those rights are inherently satisfied, no personal data is collected, processed, or stored by us in the first place.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
